I've always been intrigued by Stonehenge, but never felt any great compulsion to go out there until about a month ago. Suddenly, I was just dying to visit the historic site in England and set a record there, so when the opportunity arose recently, I jumped at the chance. My enthusiasm was dampened a little when I heard that Stonehenge can be quite windy at times.
wind at Stonehenge probably does not concern most people, if they try to fly kite (unlikely) or try to break the Guinness world record for standing on a Swiss ball, which is what I decided to do. I always practice for this record indoors, because it's hard enough to balance the ball and without interference. I knew that balancing outdoors in Stonehenge, in a stiff breeze, a constant struggle to adjust to the different wind speed and direction. Dealing with comments from the stream of tourists will continue to be challenging, but somehow it seemed like such a perfect fit-trying to stop the ball for the longest time with one huge stone blocks that are standing in a circle for more than 5,000 years.
Since human beings are not designed to fit round, soft objects, it is very important if you are trying to break the world record, to find the ball that you like and to get trained in the same ball. Even balls that appear to be identical to feel different when you stand on njima.Zadnji time I tried Swiss ball record in Germany and there was panic when the airline misplaced your luggage and I had to hunt all over Munich to replace the "gym ball", as they call it. This time, be safe, I planned to take the ball in your carry on luggage, but just before going to England because I was about to diminish the Swiss ball, to my horror I discovered that it is already quite deflated. MY FAVORITE BALL is a puncture in it and I was due to leave for the airport in 20 minutes!
This is what has to show off. Two days before the trip to England I had a European magazine. We walked down to Jamaica Avenue, where I showed balancing milk bottle on his head in the middle of disbelief customers, and I balanced on the Swiss ball in front of graffiti covered wall. While walking back to the subway, we passed the open fire hydrant that is spraying water in a great arc across the entire width of the street. "Would not you know it," the photographer exclaimed, "Just when we all finish, comes with the perfect shot." In seconds I was on the street, drenched from head to foot, desperately trying to balance on slippery rubber ball while trying to look at the camera through the blinding spray. I managed to stand upright as the light turned green and a line of cars headed toward me, but amidst all the confusion, I must have knocked a small piece of glass on the road. All I could do is to pack defective ball and spare, which I never tried it, and deal with the situation on the other side of the Atlantic.
As soon as I got to the hotel at Stonehenge, on the 6th July, I have an inflated spare ball, but it's too small. It was late Sunday afternoon, shops were all closed, and the record attempt was scheduled for the next morning. I was desperate to repair the injured ball. Fortunately, two of my British friends, Sanjaya, and Charan, came to the rescue. They are kind of bike tube patch kit, and after wrestling with the sinking of the ball in the bathtub, he managed to find a tiny hole and cover it with rubber patch. We could only hope the patch will be under increasing pressure to keep my 170 pounds of body weight. All of this drama, and I even started shooting yet attempted!
In fact, I almost failed in an attempt rekord.Ljudi charge at Stonehenge were extremely kind and set the ball and the official witnesses to the site only with the historical spomenika.Novinska agency, Reuters, sent a reporter and cameraman to record the event and, as I made my way along a certain path to join all the record of the place, I realized that I could take a shortcut by reducing diagonally across the grass. I hopped over the ropes and began to run, unaware that I was uncertain in the immediate vicinity of the famous women kamenje.Branič security immediately yelled at me to stop, but I ignored her, thinking that they will understand where I was headed. It gives her more upset, and she yelled, "Stop, or else!" I was about to make a sprint for the ball, but my better judgment prevails, which is fortunate, because when he finally caught up with me was furious. She said she would let me this time, but if I ever pulled a stunt like that again, I would strongly "threw in my ear." As a child teaches school, and I meekly apologized and sheepishly has a long way over the record page. Later, during the attempt, a guard came over and we recognize as a fellow was almost expelled. When one of my friends said, "Oh, this is nothing new, he once got arrested after scaling the Great Pyramid in Egypt," she replied, "Why am I not surprised ?"
In any case, after a short meditation in which I tried to compose himself and identify with his spiritual teacher, I finally stood on the bright yellow ball and began a battle with a fresh wind, and my mind. I thought the old Zen story in which two monks watching the flag fluttering in the wind. The first monk said, "Look, flag moving." The second monk said, "No, the wind is moving." Finally, comes the Zen master, and after hearing the two sides proclaims, "You're both wrong, it is the mind that moves." In my case, the trick to staying balanced on the ball is to my mind is moving, only to be reiterated and still. So, I struggled to keep all thoughts: the failure of the endangered bike tube patch, the possibilities of rain, moving banners, etc. As I balanced on the inside, the external balance naturally follow. I began to think that the record would not be as difficult as I imagined, but at that point, arch my right foot started killing me.
It is not uncommon for leg pain in ball valves, because a large part of the stabilization comes from a modification of the small foot muscles. However, it would not be uncomfortable for about 45 minutes into the event. Only I was balancing for 15 minutes, since the old record was 2 hours 10 minutes and 57 seconds, it meant I was almost 2 hours more to go. Yikes! But, again, I calmed my mind and for the next hour and a half in the peace and beauty of the surrounding English countryside. With 20 minutes left to reach a record legs began to shake. I enhanced my prayer and concentration, but I can still hear the tourists who shouted out, "Hey, do not fall off!" With only two minutes to go, I almost lost his balance, but barely hanging on finally hear the lovely words of the official scorekeeper, "Ladies and gentlemen, you've just experienced a new Guinness world record ."
After the record was broken I relaxed a bit, probably previše.Reuters cameraman wanted to catch the end, but he had to change the videotape, so I joked that I would not fall off while he was spreman.Nekoliko minutes later (after new videotape was), and unexpectedly knocked the ball on travi.Službeno time is 2 hours 16 minutes and 2 seconds. I was filled with gratitude to my spiritual master for his inspiration and positive energy and was delighted to have had this experience raises (no pun intended!) At Stonehenge. When my friend gave me his congratulations Bipin, he suggested, "Hey, I have an idea for your next challenge? About how trying to get a glass balancing the Leaning Tower of Pisa?" This is a funny thing, since that moment, I just can not seem to get that famous tower leans out of my head!
