Interview with Bjorn Munson, founder Stongehenge

Q: What is Stonehenge, and when he started

: Stonehenge is a one-day casting event held several times throughout the year in different cities. Actors will perform a 90-second monologue for the participation of manufacturing enterprises. The first Stonehenge was in Washington, DC, in April 2005 and since then has grown exponentially in terms of participation and popularity with actors, production companies and casting agents. Stonehenge III was held in April 2006, before the 48 hour film project. Over 100 actors auditioned for more than 20 manufacturing companies attended - about 45 filmmakers total

.

Q: Do you just based on the DC-cast and production companies attend the

: Actually, no. We had Richmond and Baltimore-based company for production and actors. This is one of the nice things about this "Middle Atlantic" region:. If you are willing to travel a bit, there are many more options for action

Q: How Stonehenge is different from other mass auditions

: Stonehenge is not a substitute for Lottery, Division, or any other mass audition in this area. I hope it is a valuable addition to other auditions and a good way for filmmakers to get the ball rolling on this important task of casting factory. For actors, this is another opportunity to audiciju.Jedan main difference from other mass auditions that at Stonehenge, we are looking for monologues performed in TV or film style. This is a particular style, as well as diverse as the Shakespeare of Neil Simon.Glumci that really wowed auditors have in the past has brought a small, subtle effect said, mostly with his eyes. We have some other tips, including do's and don'ts on the web page.

Q: Do actors get work from the participation in previous Stonehenge audition, and what kind of work they get

: Stonehenge One study showed that 87% of participants had received an invitation and / or other auditions. It was phenomenal! 100% to 100% of companies responded that they were using or planning to use the actors they see on Stonehenge. Not only that, since we began, Stonehenge has helped to cast over 30 projects and something around 90 or more roles - and the only projects I've said about the

Odds are that unless an actor is super awesome metamorphic abilities, that the actor will not be used for all the company does. If Jane says actor Joe is a manufacturing company that Stonehenge offers them a chance to see more than 100 actors performed, Joe probably will not remember Jane all over for future performances. Karma works.

At the same time, I'm willing to bet most of the actors did not become actors yearning to training film on laboratory safety. As much as I want to make sure the actors get paid performance, market rates, the trade union or Nonunion, I never want to wish directors and / or student filmmakers to feel nepoželjan.Industrije recognizes the desire of directors to various SAG low budget agreement. I know Noel Coward's quote about the motivation of the actor that his pay package, but rewarding work is not just a question of money.

Q: What should we know about the registration and audition actors at Stonehenge

: For the actors, read pages, follow the instructions and understand it is a mass audition: A lot of people go from a short flight poretka.Zajednice every fifteen minutes, and everyone should be at the boarding time. If you are not on the registration desk fifteen minutes prior to the scheduled audition time call your name, we need to put someone else in your slot. On May seem like a relentless schedule, but the weight of the beast audition. It will also help you prepare for the often more hectic world of film sets. We'll do what we can do things to run smoothly, but you must help us help you.

I also understand that this is a job interview and the interview begins with the e-mail. All deal with the check-in on the team Jabberwocky and / or involved in the film. In the past, several actors are high maintenance or treats staff poorly. This tells me, as a director, you're not worth casting, regardless of talent. This is not just about good for those people sitting in the audience, because people sitting in the audience called me and asked about the actor or actors. People do not forget to do it, so be kind to everyone. Remember that karma thing?

Q: What prompted you to run an audition Stonehenge mass

: I grew up in Arlington, Virginia, when the performances at the Arena Stage, Folger, and elsewhere. When I returned after college, I worked as a technician at the Shakespeare Studio, signature, and others. I really got a good feeling about how they live and single theater community here. In 2003, I was involved in several film and video, which I did in 1990. I learned that a lot of filmmakers did not know many players as they need. I was amazed, because I knew that hundreds of actors are out there to support all of these theaters. Many people do not know about the DC theater nationally, because we are in the shadow of New York. At the same time, we are also the third largest market for film and video for Discovery, National Geographic, and others. We are small in comparison to Los Angeles and small compared to New York, but we have presence.

I began to Stonehenge, because I really want to help grow the film community here. We have recognized this film / video community and we have established the theater community here, with lots of very good actors. Let's get this group together. I can not tell you how many directors come to me at the end of Stonehenge and tell me that he had no idea there were so many actors around. I they were another 300 who wanted to attend, but there was no room. Each Stonehenge, I see at least 20 actors who are so good I wish I had a script only to throw them. This leads me to believe that what I write in the future will be consciously or unconsciously be inspired by these actors. Seeing the good actors helps filmmakers know they can write stories that I wanted for years:. There are actors that perform them and to perform them, and

Q: What do you want to see happen with the film community here and how they fit into Stonehenge

: DC area is a great place for India because of the demographics in the region, which is, in general, quite well run, well-educated and older. You do not have to worry about producing the next Michael Bay, but if we go for rattling good story, our possibilities are limitless. I'd like to Stonehenge to contribute to the creation of this kind of films, more ambitious and shorts at the end of indie films. Because Stonehenge was meant to be a grassroots audition, she will never be all things to all people. However, if you're going to go into production in the next six months it is a great way to see who's there.

Bjorn is an actor, writer and filmmaker who grew up in Arlington, Virginia. He studied theater at Beloit College and the National Theater Institute at Eugene O'Neill Theater Center. It is the result of their production company, Team Jabberwocky, LLC, founder of Stonehenge mass auditions,. I work with the DC Film Alliance
